Injection molds for Auto plastic parts.

In a narrow sense, The automotive mold (Automotive mould,Automobile die) is the general name of the die for punching all stamping parts on the automobile body. That is "automobile body stamping molds". For example, top cover flanging molds, cross beam reinforcing plate pressing moulds and etc.

Basic overview:

The main component of automobile die is panel die. This kind of die is mainly cold stamping die. "Automobile mold" in a broad sense is the general name of the mold for manufacturing all parts on the automobile. For example, stamping molds, injection molds, forging molds, casting wax molds, glass molds, etc.

Automobile stamping parts on automobile body are generally divided into covering parts, beam frame parts and general stamping parts. The stamping part that can clearly represent the image characteristics of the automobile is the automobile panel. Therefore, the more specific automobile die can be said to be "automobile panel stamping die". It is called automobile panel die for short. For example, the trimming die for the outer panel of the front door, the punching die for the inner panel of the front door, etc. of course, there are not only stamping parts on the car body. The die of all stamping parts on the automobile is called "automobile stamping die". To sum up:

1.Automobile mould is the general name of the mould for manufacturing all parts on the automobile.

2.Automobile stamping die is a die for stamping all stamping parts on the automobile.

3.Automobile body stamping die is a die for stamping all stamping parts on automobile body.

4.Automobile panel stamping die is a die for stamping all panels on automobile body.

Main features:

Generally, it can be classified according to the following main characteristics:

1.Classification according to process properties

a.Blanking die: a die that separates materials along a closed or open contour. Such as blanking die, punching die, cutting die, cutting die, trimming die, cutting die, etc.

b.Bending die: a die for bending and deforming a blank or other blank along a straight line (bending curve), so as to obtain a workpiece with a certain angle and shape.

c.Drawing die: it is a die that makes the blank into open hollow parts, or further changes the shape and size of hollow parts.

d. Forming die: it is a die that directly copies and forms the blank or semi-finished workpiece according to the shape of the convex and concave die in the drawing, while the material itself only produces local plastic deformation. Such as bulging die, necking die, expanding die, undulating forming die, flanging die, shaping die and etc.

2.Classification according to process combination degree

a.Single process Die: a die that completes only one stamping process in one stroke of the press.

b.Compound die: a die that has only one station and completes two or more stamping processes at the same station at the same time in one stroke of the press.

c.Progressive die (also known as continuous die): a die with two or more stations in the feeding direction of the blank. In one stroke of the press, two or more stamping processes are completed successively at different stations.

3.Classification according to the processing method of products

According to different product processing methods, molds can be divided into five categories: punching and shearing molds, bending molds, drawing molds, forming molds and compression molds.

a.Punching and shearing die: the work is completed by shearing. The common forms include cutting die, blanking die, punching die, trimming die, edge forming die, broaching die and punching and cutting die.

b.Bending die: it is to bend the flat wool into an angular shape. Depending on the shape, accuracy and production capacity of the parts, there are many different forms of dies, such as ordinary bending die, cam bending die, crimping die, circular arc bending die, bending punching die and twisting die.

c.Drawing mould: the drawing mould is to make the flat rough embryo into a bottomed seamless container.

d.Forming die: it refers to changing the shape of wool embryo by various local deformation methods. Its forms include convex forming die, crimping forming die, necking forming die, hole flange forming die and round edge forming die.

e.Compression die: it uses strong pressure to make the metal rough embryo flow and deform into the required shape. Its types include extrusion die, embossing die, embossing die and end pressing die.

Design structure:

The bumper mold adopts the internal fractal structure design. Compared with the traditional external fractal structure design, the internal fractal design has higher and more complex requirements for mold structure and mold strength. Correspondingly, the bumper mold design concept produced by the mold with internal fractal structure is more advanced.

Classification of automobile tire mould:

1:The flexible die is composed of a pattern ring, a die sleeve and upper and lower side plates.

The movable mould can be divided into conical guided movable mould and inclined plane guided movable mould

2:The two half die is composed of an upper die and a lower die.

Processing technology of automobile tire mould.

Taking Huoluo mould as an example:

1:Casting or forging the blank according to the tire die drawing, then rough turning the blank and heat treatment. The tire die blank shall be fully annealed to eliminate internal stress. It shall be leveled during annealing to avoid excessive deformation.

2:Drill the lifting hole according to the drawing, then process the outer diameter and height of the pattern ring in place according to the semi finishing drawing, turn the inner cavity of the pattern ring with the semi finishing procedure, and use the semi finishing sample plate for inspection after turning.

3:Use the processed tire mold pattern electrode to form the pattern in the pattern ring by EDM, and use the sample plate for inspection.

4:Divide the pattern ring into several parts according to the manufacturer's requirements, draw the marking lines respectively, put it into the tooling, punch the back waist hole and tap.

5:According to the equal parts divided in procedure 8, align and cut at the scribed line.

6:The cut pattern blocks shall be polished, angle cleaned, root cleaned and exhaust holes shall be drilled according to the requirements of the drawing.

7:Sand shall be sprayed evenly inside the cavity of the pattern block, and the color shall be consistent.

8:Combine and assemble the tread ring, die sleeve and upper and lower side plates to complete the tire die.

There are many methods to classify plastic molds. According to different methods of plastic parts forming and processing, they can be divided into the following categories:

·Injection molds:

Injection mold is also called injection mold. The molding process of the mold is characterized in that the plastic raw materials are placed in the heating barrel of the injection machine. The plastic is heated and melted. Driven by the screw or plunger of the injection machine, it enters the mold cavity through the nozzle and the pouring system of the mold. The plastic is solidified and formed in the mold cavity through heat preservation, pressure holding and cooling. Because the heating and pressurizing device can play a role in stages, injection molding can not only form plastic parts with complex shapes, but also have high production efficiency and good quality. Therefore, injection molding occupies a large proportion in the molding of plastic parts, and the injection mold accounts for more than half of the plastic molding mold. Injection molding machine is mainly used for the molding of thermoplastics, and gradually used for the molding of thermosetting plastics in recent years.

·Compression mould (Compression die):

Compression die is also called pressing die or glue pressing die. The molding process of the mold is characterized in that the plastic raw materials are directly added into the open mold cavity, and then the mold is closed. After the plastic is in a molten state under the action of heat and pressure, the mold cavity is filled with a certain pressure. At this time, the molecular structure of the plastic produced a chemical cross-linking reaction and gradually hardened and shaped. Compression molds are mostly used for thermosetting plastics, and their molded plastic parts are mostly used for the shell of electrical switches and daily necessities.

·Transfer molds:

Transfer mold is also called pressure injection mold or extrusion mold. The molding process of the mold is characterized in that the plastic raw materials are added into the preheated charging chamber, and then the pressure is applied to the plastic raw materials in the charging chamber by the pressure column. The plastic melts under high temperature and high pressure and enters the cavity through the pouring system of the mold, and then the chemical crosslinking reaction occurs and gradually solidifies and forms. Transfer molding process is mostly used for thermosetting plastics, which can form plastic parts with complex shapes.

·Extrusion moulds (extrusion die):

Extrusion die is also called extruder head. The die can continuously produce plastics with the same section shape, such as plastic pipe, bar, sheet, etc. The heating and pressurizing device of the extruder is the same as that of the injection machine. The molten plastic will form continuous molded plastic parts through the machine head, and the production efficiency is particularly high.

·In addition to the plastic molds listed above, there are vacuum forming molds, compressed air molds, blow molds, low foaming plastic molds, etc.

Gate Location:

There are many forms of mold gates for daily necessities, but no matter what form of mold gate is used, its opening position has a great impact on the forming performance and forming quality of plastic parts. Therefore, reasonable selection of the gate position is an important design link to improve the quality of plastic parts. When selecting the gate position of the mold, the flow state, filling conditions and exhaust conditions of molten plastic in the mold should be analyzed according to the geometric characteristics and technical requirements of plastic manufacturing. The mold gate shall be set at the thickest section of the plastic part. When the wall thickness of plastic parts varies greatly, if the mold gate is set at the thin wall, the plastic melt will not only have large flow resistance, but also be easy to cool, affect the flow distance of the melt, and it is difficult to ensure that the whole mold cavity is filled. The wall thickness of plastic parts is often the place where the melt solidifies last. If the gate is set at the thin wall, the surface depression or shrinkage cavity will be formed at the place where the wall thickness can not be fed due to the shrinkage of plastic melt.

The size and position of die gate shall be selected to avoid jet and creep. If a small mold gate is facing a cavity with large width and thickness, when the high-speed material flow passes through the gate, it will produce melt fracture phenomena such as injection and creep due to high shear stress. Sometimes the spraying phenomenon will also make the plastic parts form ripple flow marks.

The location of the mold gate shall be selected to minimize the plastic flow and the change direction of the material flow.

The choice of the gate position of the die should be conducive to the discharge of gas in the cavity.

The cavity, core and insert shall be prevented from being extruded and deformed by material flow.
